“El Matador” Sapno III defends URCC title

Ricardo “El Matador” Sapno III successfully defended his URCC Featherweight title by stopping Arnold Agapito of Baguio City in six minutes of the first round, Saturday in the URCC Baguio: Battleground IV at the Baguio Convention Center.

“I did not expect the fight would end up that quick since I have no idea on what style of attack the opponent will use on me. I haven’t seen any of his fight videos at all,” said the 26 year-old Sapno who retained his belt via a rear nake choke that caused him to tap out.

The Beefit Phython’s Pitt Gym bet who served as one of the guests in yesterday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn improved his fight record at 5-1. He suffered a minor bruise on his right eye and a broken nose after receiving a left hook from Agapito when they collide as the bell rang.

Agapio is known to be a good striker considering his background in wushu.

Sapno now gears-up for his next title defense on April in Singapore, according to coach Bambi Posadas who also came to the weekly sports Forum along with manager Otek Durante and newly crowned Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC) flyweight champion Ale “The Young Gun” Cale.

Cale, on the other hand will defend his title this June.
