Holy Cross College of Sasa and Stella Maris Academy bested separate foes in Day three of the 2012 Shakey’s Girls V-League Mindanao Eliminations, yesterday at the Ladislawa Country Club gym.

Holy Cross College of Sasa under coaches Basilio Mapute and Mark Lester Manulat needed only an extra set to defeat Assumption College of Davao, 25-18, 12-25 and 25-12 for its first win in the elimination round.

Stella Maris Academy under headcoach JC Velasquez duplicated that feat after beating a visiting Tagum National High School in straight sets, 26-17, 25-18.

Three games are still playing as of presstime yesterday.

The semifinals and finals will be played today at the same venue.

Presented by Shakey’s, the Mindanao leg which is currently on its ninth season is organized by Evangelista Aquatics and Sports Management Incorporated and is under the supervision of Balebolista Dabaw.
