It was a friendly call from Coke hunk, Albert Quindoy Garcia, which had me rushing to the Abreeza Mall to attend MetroLifestyle’s Mardi Gras last February 18 at 10:00 a.m.
You have to hand it to the MetroLifestyle Fitness Center for coming up with engaging programs such as the Yoga for Love and Fitness Revolution at 6, to mention a few, to encourage Davaoenos to exercise for fitness and health. Why, even Davao’s perfumed socialites sweat it out regularly in MetroLifestyle’s ballroom, zumba and belly dance classes.
The hardworking MetroLifestyle manager, Jammer Lozano, must be smiling these days as Davaoenos of all ages have been trooping to the fitness center for its various inspiring exercise, sports, and martial arts offerings. During the event, it was good to bump into a much slimmer businessman, John Abella, who is still as humble and as camera shy as ever. I haven’t seen the friendly John for ages. Naturally, M Magazine’s Sales and Marketing rep, Charmaine David, looking as voluptuous as ever despite her impending altar date with an Indian national, was manning her stand selling M magazines.
“We are grateful to Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines for sponsoring MetroLifestyle Fitness Center’s Mardi Gras at the Abreeza this weekend. Coke has been generous to us through all these years,” said the tall and fit martial arts’ sensei, Nell Astudillo, who was attending to his active, young flock of bushido practitioners handsomely dressed in black gi.
“This time, in our continuing pursuit to give you and our consumers better products, Coca-Cola Philippines is pleased to introduce the new Powerade Ion4 with the Advanced Electrolyte System. It is the complete sports drink. After its successful launch in the USA in 2009, it was made available in Canada, Europe, Latin America, and now, we are fortunate that it is being launched in the Philippines,” said Romel D. Jimenez, Coke’s Region Key Accounts Manager.
What differentiates the new Powerade Ion4 sports drink from the others is that its advanced electrolyte system features the combination of four key electrolytes namely Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium, to help replenish electrolytes in the same ratio typically lost in sweat while exercising.
“Although water will quench your thirst, water does not have the electrolytes, carbohydrates and appealing taste that the new Powerade Ion4 has, each of which plays an important role in effective hydration during or after exercise,” convinced Albert Q. Garcia as he added, “Aside from the change in formula, consumers will get to enjoy Powerade Ion4 in its new easy-grip bottle which is designed to fit the needs of people who lead active lifestyles. And two of our variants are equipped with sports caps to help active people manage their fluid intake conveniently during their intense physical activities.” Well, the athletic Albert should know what he talks about when it comes to sports and the needed sports accessories like the samples of the 500 ml. PET bottles he showed me.
The good news is, Powerade Ion4 has earned the distinction as a Worldwide Olympic partner; and will be hydrating international athletes participating in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Soccer player Neil Etheridge, fitness diva Chinggay Andrada, running coach Rio dela Cruz, champion basketball player David Semerad and yes, even Davao’s fitness and running divo Raymund Libre are among those who pledge by the upgraded formulation of Powerade Ion4. Powerade Ion4 helps athletes power through their limits.
Thank you, Albert Q. Garcia and Kikok Chiew.
